What you can learn

1:1 Production Lessons

Private lessons built around your goals and your music: arrangement, sound design, mixing, and the low end that makes psytrance work on a big system.

DJ Lessons

Private DJ lessons, from the basics of beatmatching and mixing to building a set that keeps a dancefloor moving. Samy has taught DJing at IDPS Tokyo since 2011.

Track Feedback Sessions

A one-off session on one of your tracks: we listen together, find what is holding it back, and you leave with clear next steps.

Full Course or Focused Topics

Follow the complete production curriculum from the beginning, or focus only on what you want to learn right now. Beginners usually start at the start; experienced producers bring their own goals, and the lessons adapt.

Learn what you need

Examples of what students have come to work on:

  • Music theory for electronic music, to strengthen your musical skills
  • Programming squelchy leads
  • Psy effects, such as whooshes
  • Building a strong rhythm track: kick, bass and groove
  • Moving into a new genre, with insights into producing other styles

How lessons work

  • Online, anywhere in the world, over Zoom or SyncRoom, straight from your own studio
  • In person in Tokyo
  • In English, French or Japanese (Samy’s Japanese is informal and conversational)
  • Logic Pro or Ableton Live: Logic is Samy’s DAW of choice. He started on Cubase and also works in Ableton with clients, and everything he teaches applies to both Logic and Ableton

Who it’s for

  • Beginners who want a solid foundation instead of random tutorials
  • Producers whose tracks sound good on headphones but fall apart on big systems
  • DJs who want to move from mixing tracks to building sets with real energy
